Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Cary, North Carolina is a great place to live and work.  Here’s another reason to love the Triangle area — the new Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary.

Located in Cary, just minutes from Raleigh - Durham International Airport and next to beautiful William B. Umstead Park, the hotel is full of amenities.  A beautiful full service spa, luxury hotel rooms and excellent space for meetings and events.

Like the finest hotels, there is a wonderful restaurant.  Herons opened last month and is named for the beautiful birds that surround the wetlands near the hotel.  The restaurant is stylish and modern, with a wonderful regional cuisine led by Executive Chef Phil Evans.

Wake County School News: Major Growth Issues

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

The News and Observer had an interesting article yesterday highlighting the tremendous growth in Wake County.   This year, schools in Wake enrolled an additional 7,566 students - a record.  The school district is growing every year - and now stands at 22nd nationally with 128,070 students.  Compared to that enormous growth, Johnston County gained 1,568 students, Durham, 262, Chapel Hill - Carrboro, 179 and Orange County, 122.

Much of this growth is driven by the great affordability of our housing market.  The Triangle’s median home price is $162,600, while the national number stands at $167,500.

The article quotes the Wake school district’s demographer, who says that, “the biggest concentrations of growth this year occurred in two areas.   One runs from Brier Creek in northwest Raleigh down into Apex and forms a “half-moon” ending in Garner.  The other runs from Wake Forest through northeast Raleigh, Knightdale and southeast Raleigh.”

The school district is addressing this issue first with plans to convert 19 elementary schools and 3 middle schools to a year-round format next year.  They have also put a school construction bond on the ballot on November 7.  The $970 million school construction bond would go towards payments for 17 new schools and the land costs for 13 more.

How would this affect your plans to buy or sell your Wake County home?  Call Reg Morgan to discuss your place in our local real estate market.  With over 20 years of experience as a real estate agent and the Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) designation, he is uniquely qualified to assist you.

Wake County Schools Go Year Round

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Wake County School Board voted 8-1 to convert 19 elementary schools to a year-round calendar.   Wake County is expecting 5,000 additional students next year, and conversion to a year-round plan is expected to help schools manage the influx.   This is a controversial plan - heated arguments have gone on for months as the board has haggled over a decision.  The board will vote on September 19th on whether they will also convert 6 middle schools.

As a realtor in Wake County, it’s important for me to know about the latest news for schools here in Raleigh, Apex and Cary.  If you are interested in buying or selling a home in Raleigh, Cary or Apex — anywhere in Wake County — call Reg Morgan.  As a realtor with over 20 years of experience, I can guide you through your next real estate transaction.

Cary Real Estate Sales

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Cary, North Carolina is a small great city and once again Money magazine has proven it.  Ranking Cary as #5 on it’s list of Great American Towns.   I agree!  Cary has beautiful homes and great neighborhoods.  Money Magazine says this about Cary:

“People come to the Research Triangle area for opportunity. They settle in Cary because they can’t believe how pretty the place is. More than 30 parks and greenways dot the region, and regular arts and crafts festivals bring tens of thousands to the downtown area to browse. And, of course, there’s plenty of culture in nearby Raleigh. Cary residents don’t lack for jobs. Software maker SAS is based here, and about 50% of its 10,000 jobs are in the area. The city also has one of the country’s lowest crime rates.”

Take a look at some of the great homes listed in Cary here on my website.  Call me if you’d like to take a look at some of the Cary homes for sale.  As a Cary Realtor with over 20 years of experience, I can show you why Money Magazine ranks us so high!
