Carolina North: Innovation Center

Monday, January 28th, 2008

The University made a formal presentation to the Chapel Hill Town Council last week, outlining the details of Carolina North’s first project - the Innovation Center.  Many spoke out in favor of this project - I want to add my voice to those who support this.

Chapel Hill has a great opportunity in Carolina North.  From what I have seen in meetings and heard in my discussions with the University, it is going to be a remarkable space.  There has already been considerable work done in keeping greenspace and trails in good condition.  Now this building is the next step and will provide a much needed incubator for start-up companies, keeping jobs and innovations here in Chapel Hill rather then sending them to RTP or out of state.

If you have thoughts about this or any other Chapel Hill real estate issues, call or email me, Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor.

Chapel Hill Real Estate: Local Elections

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Well, it looks like the incumbents took it, with the exception of newcomer to the Chapel Hill Town Council, Matt Czajkowski.   Looks like he defeated the member that most folks find the most divisive and condescending, Cam Hill.  He focused on the need for serious change downtown and it was an issue that resonated with many towns people.

Here’s a link to the full results.    If you have any questions about what this election might mean for our Chapel Hill real estate market, contact Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor.

Chapel Hill Realtor: Great Neighborhoods

Monday, September 17th, 2007

One of the best things about living in Chapel Hill is the different neighborhoods - there are many styles and types of housing to fit every time of life.  Young, single students, families and retirees are just some of the clients I have worked with lately.

A favorite neighborhood is Kent Woodlands.   Larger, family oriented homes, many built by premiere Chapel Hill builder, Zinn Design Build.  The area is zoned for the new Carrboro High School.   Call Reg Morgan for information on Kent Woodlands or other great Chapel Hill neighborhoods.

Southern Village and Meadowmont Welcome Spring!

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Now that the weather is turning warmer, it’s nice to get in those morning runs and think about the possibility of Spring!  I’ve had a number of clients coming from parts north recently and this is a great time for them to visit Chapel Hill.  Our daffodils are out in full bloom.

The Southern Village and Meadowmont neighborhoods are always favorites because of their mix of beautiful homes in a variety of price ranges, condos, town homes and fantastic stores and restaurants.   Both locations offer wonderful walking trails - and these only get better as the weather improves.

And for families with younger children, you can’t beat the option of having an elementary school right in your neighborhood.  Southern Village has Scroggs and Meadowmont has Rashkis - both award winning schools.

If you are thinking of a move to Chapel Hill, call Reg Morgan.  Let’s talk about Meadowmont or Southern Village, or one of the many other great neighborhoods that make up our wonderful town.

Chapel Hill Real Estate: New Listing

Friday, January 5th, 2007

I have a wonderful new listing at 879 Cedar Fork Trail.  This private deck home is located in the Countryside neighborhood, a walk to Cedar Fork park, top ranked East Chapel Hill High School and tennis courts.

The home itself has over 3,200 square feet of luxury looking out on the wooded areas around Cedar Fork Creek.   The master bedroom has an adjoining study - all with the tremendous views that take your breath away.

Two story windows bring the forest and stream views into your home.  Soaring entryway and stone fireplace are some of the other amenities.   Four bedrooms, three baths.  The unfinished lower level is ready for an eventual remodel as it already has roughed in plumbing.

Call Reg Morgan to view this property, or other luxury homes in Chapel Hill.  Take a look at my website to view current Chapel Hill MLS listings.

Chapel Hill Realtor News: Downtown Development

Monday, December 11th, 2006

The Lot 5 development plan was the big story downtown these past few weeks. As a Chapel Hill realtor I think it’s important to keep close track of residential development and this is a project that could influence the streetscape of our town for decades to come.

The Town Council came to agreement with RAM Development to build a 243,000 square foot complex on Franklin Street. This has been a long and arduous process. You can see some of the details on this Town of Chapel Hill webpage which tracks the development deal. The deal for Lot 5 has changed considerably. At this point the agreement stands that RAM has agreed to spend $75 million to build an 8 story complex including 137 condominiums, 28,500 square feet in ground-floor retail space and a two-thirds of an acre public plaza at Franklin and Church Streets.

The Town has agreed to pay $7.25 million to build 161 underground parking places there — replacing the current 173 that are on the site now.

If you are interested in a home, condo or town home in downtown Chapel Hil, call Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor. Take a look at the Chapel Hill MLS listings to see what is on the market now.

Chapel Hill School Principal gets top honor

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Chapel Hill residents are justifiably proud of their school district, as it routinely ranks as the top school district in North Carolina.  Rashkis Elementary is a great school in the Meadowmont neighborhood of Chapel Hill.  Recently the school’s principal, Deshera Mack, was honored by school administrators as the district’s Principal of the Year.

This is the third time she has been honored.   Earlier, she won this award when she was at Seawell Elementary in 1996 and 2000.

The Chapel Hill Carrboro school district has outstanding teachers and administrators.  It is one of the many reasons why families love to live in Chapel Hill.  If you are thinking of a move to Chapel Hill, call Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor with over 20 years of experience.

Let’s talk about the many neighborhoods that make up Chapel Hill.   Meadowmont is just one special part of our town.   I’d love to show you other great neighborhoods with extraordinary homes - Southern Village, Lake Hogan Farms, Silver Creek and The Oaks are just some that come to mind.
