Morehead Planetarium Heats Up

Friday, August 1st, 2008

There are some great things going on at the Morehead Planetarium.   The summer camps that take place there are some of the best in the Triangle.  The Planetarium is also starting an afterschool program for Chapel Hill elementary students.

This weekend there is a great event planned focusing on, you guessed it, the Sun!  Solar Family Science Day is tomorrow, Saturday, August 2nd and should be a nice chance to learn and appreciate what’s been giving us all this heat.  They’ll be cooking S’mores outside in the sun, race solar cars and practice solar safety.  Events will take place from 10am - 3pm.  Go for a visit!

Chapel Hill Realtor: Congratulations Graduates!

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

This is a big weekend in Chapel Hill — it is graduation time again and you can see them already lining up in their blue robes at the Old Well for their family photos.  This weekend will see a huge influx of guests to our town - welcome!

Check out the UNC website for more information about Commencement at Kenan Stadium or the PhD Hooding Ceremony at Memorial Hall.

And, of course, there is always that other little school down the road that will also have a graduation this weekend!  We can’t forget to wish our friends a Duke a wonderful day as well.

If you need information about Chapel Hill real estate - call Reg Morgan.  Many of my clients are relocations from other states and towns.  Often there is a connection to Chapel Hill that has pulled them back.  I certainly understand that and would love to talk to you about the Southern Part of Heaven!

Chapel Hill Realtor looks at Spring

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Here in North Carolina the signs of Spring start right about now - and first thing we do is get our spring sports plans in order.  We are lucky here to have some great activities for the kids that go year round.

One of our favorites is the Morehead Planetarium.  They have really great day camps all Summer and special events for kids throughout the year.

As for sports activities, we love the programs that the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Y plans year round.  They have basketball, soccer and stickball that take place at different locations around town.  And, of course onsite they have swimming lessons and special events.

This Spring we’ll try Rainbow Soccer for the first time.  We’ve heard great things about it and our oldest son is really looking forward to having practices during the week.  They have a field right at Southern Village which is convenient - and offers a great option of dinner afterwards at one of the great restaurants.

If you have questions about living in Chapel Hill, contact Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor.  In this challenging market you need an expert for buying and selling real estate, but sometimes more important, you need a neighborhood expert who knows the schools, the sports and the special activities that make life so enjoyable here.

Chapel Hill Realtor Cheers for the Heels

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Well, town has really cleared out following UNC’s winter commencement on Sunday.  This is one of my favorite times - the weather in Carolina, while cold for us, is still so much better then the rest of the country!  How lucky we are with our wonderfully mild climate.

As we look towards the holiday, we are planning great activities for that quiet week between Christmas and New Year’s.  The boys love Kidzu, The NC Museum of Life and Science - and of course, the Morehead Planetarium.  But my wife will insist that we take in the impressionist show at the NC Museum of Art.  We’ll all plan to visit Waraji, a great sushi restaurant in Raleigh on Duraleigh Road

And of course, we’ll ring in the New Year - or at least have a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner at Watts Grocery.  Amy Tornquist’s new Durham restaurant is always a favorite and the great buzz on that place just keeps growing!

May you have a wonderful, safe holiday.  And of course, if you are thinking about Chapel Hill real estate, call me, Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor.

Relocating to Chapel Hill

Monday, November 19th, 2007

It is just about this time of year that folks in the Northeast start thinking about relocating to a warmer part of the country.  And I say, great idea!!  I moved to Chapel Hill 15 years ago and it’s the best thing I ever did.  Moving from Fairfield County, Connecticut was hard to consider at first, but now I can’t imagine going through another Connecticut winter.

You might be concerned that you’ll miss seeing the ’seasons’.  Let me tell you - Carolina looks like Vermont this Fall.  It is our best fall foliage ever.  And we always get at least one snow storm so that the kids can sleigh ride and build a snowman.  We just don’t have to wrestle it more then once or twice a year!

Call me, Reg Morgan if you are considering a move to Chapel Hill.  Or perhaps you have a son or daughter who is working in Chapel Hill or going to attend Carolina?  An investment property might be a good option to explore.

Here in Chapel Hill we love our gardens.  Drive around many neighborhoods like Gimghoul, Southern Village and Meadowmont and you will see some really gorgeous and well maintained gardens.

This Summer’s lack of rain has really hurt us and if we face water restrictions this Fall, you may be wondering what your options are to take care of those beautiful flowers.  One solution is a rain barrel.  55 gallon rain barrels are for sale at Whole Foods Market right here in Chapel Hill.  Call 919-968-1983 for further info.

Local Elections

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Candidates have till July 20th to file their documents and join the upcoming election fray — incumbent mayors from Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough have all entered the race.   Hopefully there will be other candidates joining them - a one-man race isn’t really an election!   Stay tuned to see what happens.
