Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Great weather for the visitors in town this weekend - it is in the 80s!!  We’ll break out the water guns and sprinklers this weekend for the kids.  And we’re looking forward to storming Rosemary Street when we win the NIT!  Yes, I did say Rosemary Street!

Summer Camps in Chapel Hill

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

So much is going on here in Chapel Hill and Carrboro and it is only February -but this is high time for camp registrations.  I can’t believe the number of great camps in this area.  Science camps at the Museum of Life and Science and Morehead Planetarium, Sports Camps at UNC, outdoor camps through the Y - just to name a few.  My wife loves plotting out our son’s summer with a great mix of things for him to do.

Chapel Hill is the Best Place to Live — Ever!

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

More kudos for Chapel Hill!  Business Week voted Chapel Hill one of the “Best Places to Raise Your Kids” and US News notes that Chapel Hill is one of the Best Commutes in the Country.  My wife would definitely chime in on both.   She used to take the subway in NYC to work 45 minutes down to Wall Street.  Now she travels five minutes to her work at the University, five minutes to the children’s preschool and five minutes to our son’s wonderful elementary school.

Chapel Hill is truly a great city - but it really feels like a town.  If you are thinking of a move or a relocation to North Carolina, call me, Reg Morgan and let’s talk about the advantages of a move in today’s real estate market.

Back to Chapel Hill Schools

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

This is always my favorite blog of the year!  The UNC students are back - and that is always a shock to our parking lots and restaurants!   But more important - are kids are back in the great Chapel Hill schools!   I am continuously amazed at the wonderful job our teachers and administrators do - to say nothing of those bus drivers!  Our new bus driver showed up early this morning just to meet each of the kids on his new rout!

Welcome back students!

Chapel Hill Swim Team Season Starts

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Tomorrow’s the day - the Southern Village Stingrays, the Heritage Hills Hurricanes, teams from the Farm, the Chapel Hill Country Club — the whole lot of them will take to the pool for the first meet of the season.  We have some great competitive swimming programs for kids around here.  This is something a number of my relocation clients have been interested in.  If you move once your kids have started to find their sports or arts niche - a natural consideration is how you can smoothly transition them to a new team, program or academy.

We are so lucky here with many great programs.  As a realtor - and as a Dad, I make sure I know all about them.  I love working with families to give them a smooth transition to the Chapel Hill area.

Call me, Reg Morgan if you are thinking of a move to the Triangle area.

And, good luck tomorrow swimmers!

Chapel Hill Realtor: Summer Camp Search

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

It’s that time again, get your summer calendar out and start planning the rest of your year.   Because if you want to take advantage of some of the great camps we have in our area, you are going to want to sign up soon.  Deadlines start in early February for some of our favorites, so this is the time that we try to put our plans together.

For those of you who plan to move here this year, don’t be discouraged if you don’t sign up in February.  There are always some openings and some cancellations, so just put yourself on the waiting list.

Our favorite camp location is the Morehead Planetarium, right on Franklin Street in downtown Chapel Hill.  They have wonderful science and learning camps that run throughout the summer.  Another good science and nature camp is the one run by the Museum of Life and Science in Durham.  They host a full schedule of camps at Estes Hills Elementary right in town here.   Now if you are more interested in sports camps, there is a great one in Southern Village at the Southern Village Club.

Other great resources are the Y at Meadowmont camps and Chapel Hill rec camps.

Is your head spinning yet?  Well good luck!  And if you have any questions about Chapel Hill real estate call Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor with over 20 years of experience.

Chancellor Cancels Airport Plan

Friday, January 9th, 2009

UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor Holden Thorp held a press conference this morning to announce that the University would not be pursuing an airport in Orange County.  This was a great relief to members of the White Cross and rural Orange County community.  The doctors from AHEC have agreed to move operations to RDU once the Horace Williams airport is closed down and Carolina North construction begins in earnest.

Downtown Chapel Hill News

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

There is a lot going on downtown and if you haven’t been reading about it let me catch you up.

Two of our signature buildings will soon have new tenants - Walgreen’s is moving into the old Gap building next year.  The Clothing Warehouse, a vintage clothing chain out of Atlanta is moving into the renovated building that used to hold Kerr Drug.  Michael Brader-Araje has done a fabulous job in upgrading the building’s facade and the architectural details.  He really performed a community service with that one.

So one of the biggest problems has been downtown parking - and for the Holiday season there will be free parking on Saturdays and Sundays downtown.  A great idea and here are the details.  During and after the annual Christmas parade on December 13th, parking will be free all over downtown.  On the other Saturdays - December 6th, 20th and 27th parking will be free at the meters on Franklin Street and at Lots 3 ( 415 West Franklin) and 5 (141 West Franklin).

So shop local!

The Eve Carson Running Route

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Don’t let the rain keep you away - here is a map of the running route.  This is one of the prettiest areas of Chapel Hill and it should be a great morning.  Former Chancellor Moeser will kick things off at 10am from the steps of South Building.  JJ Raynor, the current Student Body President and Katie Sue Zellner, Eve’s chief of staff and dear friend will also speak.
