Triangle Area of North Carolina: Local Growth

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization  (DCHC MPO) which plans and administers the state and federal transportation projects in our region, has drafted population and employment forecasts through the year 2035.  A transportation modeling process will use a final version of the Socioeconomic Data (SE Data) to help determine which transportation projects will be included in the region’s 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan.  We are all encouraged to review and comment on the data, especially the areas that we are directly familiar with.

The website outlines many ways to participate including public workshops, hearings and public comments.  Take a look at the information and add your thoughts to this important process.

Durham Real Estate: Hope Valley

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

Durham, North Carolina has a great diversity of neighborhoods.  Anchored by two great Universities, NC Central and Duke, there are wonderful restaurants, museums and of special interest to this Durham realtor — great homes.

Hope Valley is a wonderful neighborhood in southwestern Durham.  An older, established neighborhood, set around the prestigious Hope Valley Country Club, it is a wonderful place to live.  Luxury homes mix with smaller elegant houses on beautiful well-manicured lots.  Many lots sit on the golf course, one of the best in the area.

The Arts in Durham

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Yesterday was a great day for the arts in Durham — it was the official groundbreaking for the Durham Performing Arts Center. A cutting edge performance venue budgeted at $44 million, this will be a greaat addition to our community. Located near the Durham Bulls ballpark and the American Tobacco complex, it is centrally located and will one day include 2,800 seats. Plans are also in the works to move the American Dance Festival from its current home at Duke to the new venue.

It’s a great time to look at the Durham real estate market. Call Reg Morgan to discuss our current market, and take a look here at the Durham MLS listings.

Relocate to the Triangle!

Monday, August 14th, 2006

We had a great time this weekend at Meadowmont in Chapel Hill.   This is a great place to live - routinely we make the top lists of best place to retire, best towns for relocation, top area schools!   One of my favorite parts of my job is helping folks relocate to Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Raleigh, Durham, Cary or Hillsborough — the Research Triangle in North Carolina.    It’s an exciting time to look at moving to North Carolina.  Call Reg Morgan to talk about your relocation plans.

Nasher Museum in Durham

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

The Nasher Museum at Duke University has been a remarkable addition to the community.  Situated on the campus of Duke University, next to the very beautiful Sarah P. Duke Gardens, the building itself, by architect, Rafael Vinoly is worth seeing on its own.  But make sure you step inside and see the amazing permanent collection and special exhibits.

Don’t forget to make plans for lunch at the Nasher Cafe run by top area caterer, Sage & Swift.    After a fabulous meal, take a drive to see the beautiful older homes in the neighborhood.  Durham has some beautiful luxury homes and executive properties.   Call me, Reg Morgan to talk about the Durham real estate market.  Check here for the latest Durham MLS listings.

North Carolina Museum of Life and Science

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

There is so much to do in the Durham and Chapel Hill area.  One of our favorites is the NC Museum of Life and Science.  This past weekend we took a visit with our boys and they loved it.  The Magic Butterfly house, the insectarium, the train! It was all great.  Soon we’ll go back to see the baby black bear cub.  Cast your vote to name the baby bear here.
