Paris of the Piedmont: Chapel Hill Realtor Loves Carrboro Restaurant

Monday, August 4th, 2008

ProvenceOne of the best things about relocating to the Chapel Hill area is that you will never miss out on a good meal!  Our area is filled with great restaurants - last night my wife and I dined in Provence!  I mean, at Provence in Carrboro.

What a great place.  We had a delicious meal, starting with a salmon terrine and escargots in roguefort!  For my main course, I had the herb crusted rack of lamb - and it was spectacular, with grilled beets and onions and a potato gratin on the side.  My wife went with a special entree - a quartet of fish, including lemon sole meuniere,  sashimi grade tuna au poivre, salmon en papillotte with bernaise sauce and grilled tuna with a fabulous tapenade crust.

We regretfully skipped the desserts to get over to Southern Village and see Mamma Mia at the Lumina.

It was a wonderful evening in Carrboro and Chapel Hill.  Join us!   If you are thinking of relocating to the Triangle, contact Reg Morgan at Prudential Carolinas Realty.  With over 20 years of experience in buying and selling real estate, I will help guide you through your move.

Southern Village and Meadowmont Welcome Spring!

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Now that the weather is turning warmer, it’s nice to get in those morning runs and think about the possibility of Spring!  I’ve had a number of clients coming from parts north recently and this is a great time for them to visit Chapel Hill.  Our daffodils are out in full bloom.

The Southern Village and Meadowmont neighborhoods are always favorites because of their mix of beautiful homes in a variety of price ranges, condos, town homes and fantastic stores and restaurants.   Both locations offer wonderful walking trails - and these only get better as the weather improves.

And for families with younger children, you can’t beat the option of having an elementary school right in your neighborhood.  Southern Village has Scroggs and Meadowmont has Rashkis - both award winning schools.

If you are thinking of a move to Chapel Hill, call Reg Morgan.  Let’s talk about Meadowmont or Southern Village, or one of the many other great neighborhoods that make up our wonderful town.

The Southern Village 5K and Family Fun Run, will take place on Sunday, December 10th at 2pm. Benefiting Habitat for Humanity, there will also be a raffle for an extraordinary children’s playhouse. Take a look at it on the Village Green in Southern Village, it will be there from November 19 until December 10. You can buy raffle tickets at Bloom, Market Street Books, Marakesh and Pringles Fine Crafts.

There are also great things going on at Weaver Street Market in Southern Village as the expansion work that has been underway the past few weeks is really starting to show benefits. They’ve finished the first stage resulting in more room for the dairy products and the freezer. Look for increased space for a cheese, wine and beer section. The center island will be split into a hot bar and sandwich area at the back, and a bakery and coffeebar through the center of the store.

Don’t forget that the market is taking Thanksgiving orders till Monday, November 20th!

On Saturday, December 2nd there will be some fun holiday kick-off events. Starting at 2pm, Loren Miller, Minister of Worship Arts at Christ Church will join friends and neighbors for a special holiday caroling event. Also that day, there will be a special holiday ornament making party with The Scrap Exchange at Weaver Street. Kids can make special ornaments out of recycled materials and then at 3pm they can hang them on the Christmas tree that will be set up on the green.

At 3:30pm the tree will be lit, and more singing of traditional Christmas carols with Rebecca Dyck who runs the local Kindermusik class. Our youngest son loves her classes!

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Chapel Hill residents are justifiably proud of their school district, as it routinely ranks as the top school district in North Carolina.  Rashkis Elementary is a great school in the Meadowmont neighborhood of Chapel Hill.  Recently the school’s principal, Deshera Mack, was honored by school administrators as the district’s Principal of the Year.

This is the third time she has been honored.   Earlier, she won this award when she was at Seawell Elementary in 1996 and 2000.

The Chapel Hill Carrboro school district has outstanding teachers and administrators.  It is one of the many reasons why families love to live in Chapel Hill.  If you are thinking of a move to Chapel Hill, call Reg Morgan, your Chapel Hill realtor with over 20 years of experience.

Let’s talk about the many neighborhoods that make up Chapel Hill.   Meadowmont is just one special part of our town.   I’d love to show you other great neighborhoods with extraordinary homes - Southern Village, Lake Hogan Farms, Silver Creek and The Oaks are just some that come to mind.
