Carolina Football

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

Carolina FootballGood football news came out of Carolina today with the announcement of the start times for the first home games at Kenan Stadium.  Those of you who follow Tar Heel football, know that we can get only a week’s notice of kick-off times which can vary to morning, noon or night of game day.

Today we got news that the season opener against Rutgers on September 2nd will take place at 3:30pm and the next game on Saturday, September 9th vs. Virginia Tech will start at 12noon.

A couple of important away games as the Tar Heels face Virginia in Charlottesville on Thursday, October 19th (a rare Thursday night game).   Kick-off at 7:30pm and ESPN will broadcast.    Carolina will visit South Bend to play Notre Dame on Saturday, November 4th at 2:30pm.

Coach Bunting has a great team ready to go this year — Go Heels!

Housing Sales Jump

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

Hope you saw the great news this morning that new housing construction is up 4.9% across the country.   A surprise for the Commerce Department and some analysts — but no surprise for buyers in the Chapel Hill Real Estate market who know that this market is hot.

We thought the days of such increases were over, but just a few weeks ago we had a house that was bought “site unseen” in the Kent Woodlands neighborhood.   The buyers had been outbid once too often.   That really points out the need for a realtor with experience.  Reg Morgan has over 20 years of experience in buying and selling real estate.   First in Fairfield County, Connecticut — and for the last 15 years in Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh and Cary.

Whether you’re buying or selling, call or email Reg to discuss your best place in the local real estate market.

Getting Ready to Move

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

As a Chapel Hill Realtor, I work with home owners getting ready to place their homes on the market.  It’s important to put your house forward in the very best light from the start of your marketing plan.     Home improvements - which in 2005 topped over $210 billion dollars - add real value to your home.   Landscaping, new paint, carpets and just clearing out some of your personal belongings can all help show your home in the best light.

Call or email me and we can discuss your place in the Chapel Hill Real Estate market.  Whether you’re buying or selling, the strength of Prudential Carolinas Realty - and my experience of over 20 years, make Reg Morgan the person to call for your Chapel Hill Real Estate needs!

Southern Village in Chapel Hill

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

One of our favorite Chapel Hill real estate neighborhoods is Southern Village.    This is a great neighborhood, especially for anyone who likes to walk to shops, restaurants, or the swim and tennis club.    Southern Village Real Estate has a mix of luxury homes and town homes.

The Farmers Market sets up on Market Street every Thursday afternoon.   Throughout the Summer there are outdoor movies and concerts on the green – including a special concert by the NC Symphony on June 1st.

One of my clients bought a town home in Southern Village and loves the mix of families and single neighbors.  She’s lived in so many places: California, Oregon, Maryland- but this one is the best for that sense of southern hospitality.      Southern Village was my first suggestion for her - beautiful homes, close to movies and restaurants.     Call or email me to find the perfect home in Chapel Hill!

Golf in Chapel Hill

Friday, May 19th, 2006

What a gorgeous day in Chapel Hill!   With a Carolina blue sky, it’s a day for playing golf — and there are so many golf courses in North Carolina to choose from.   Today I’ll be playing with my client Jim at Finley Golf Course — part of the great facilities of UNC - Chapel Hill.   I sold Jim’s house in Downing Creek recently.   Downing Creek is a great Chapel Hill Neighborhood.    Check out what my other clients have said about working with Reg Morgan, the Chapel Hill Real Estate Expert, on my website.

You may be thinking of a golf course community — Governors Club, Treyburn or maybe Brier Creek in Wake County.   Call or email me to discuss how to put yourself on the Golf Course in Carolina!  Let’s play soon!

Disney Teacher of the Year

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

Kudos to Chapel Hill - Carrboro School District’s Teacher of the Year!!!    Melinda Kay Fitzgerald, an eighth grade science teacher at Smith Middle School in Chapel Hill was chosen to win the 2006 Disney Teacher of the Year Award.   From over 75,000 nominees nationwide, she was chosen for her creativity and innovation in the classroom.  And here in our Chapel Hill Schools, there are so many teachers like her.

Top schools are just one of the reasons Chapel Hill is consistently listed as one of the top locations to live or relocate to in the US.   Our neighborhoods are another.   As a Chapel Hill realtor with over 20 years of experience - let me match you to your dream home!    Call or email me so we can discuss buying or selling in today’s Chapel Hill real estate market.

Relocating to Chapel Hill

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

Since my wife Laura and I moved to Chapel Hill, many friends from our previous homes in New York and Connecticut contact us about making the move as well.   Relocating to Chapel Hill was the best thing we ever did.    The quality of life here in the Triangle is amongst the best in the nation.  The schools, recreation and of course, that Carolina Blue weather — what a great place to raise our kids.    If you are thinking of a move, call me.  As a certified relocation specialist, I know how important it is to do this right.  It’s not too soon to begin the process - even if your move is months, or even years away.

Our good friends, Donna and Mike came down to look around last Summer.  They loved the spacious homes in Lake Hogan Farms, Governors Club and Silver Creek.    If you are relocating, you will be amazed at the fantastic luxury home market here in Chapel Hill.

Things to do in Carrboro

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

One of our great local institutions is the Carrboro Farmers Market.   Carrboro is a small town right next to Chapel Hill, part of the Chapel Hill - Carrboro School District — and a great place to spend a Saturday morning.    The great neighborhoods surrounding the Town Hall have some of the best examples of restored mill houses in our state.  Take a look at my website to see what’s available in Carrboro.    You may also like to look at some of the subdivisions that fall within Carrboro town lines — Berryhill, Kent Woodlands and Cates Farms.

This weekend at the Farmers Market there will be a special event to raise money for the Crescent City Farmers Market in New Orleans, and all of the farmers who were devastated by Hurricane Katrina last Fall.   Muffulettas and Gumbo will be prepared to go by top Triangle chefs and available for $10 a serving.   A great Saturday night dinner!   Don’t forget to visit the other local farmers — all bringing their fruit, vegetables, flowers, meats and cheeses from an area of 50 miles around Carrboro.

And remember to try the sticky buns — my son Jack’s favorite!

Chapel Hill Homes

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

Meadowmont is a great area of Chapel Hill.    Wonderful homes, the shopping and convenient to the best pool in town!  Summer is here and the pool slide is open!   The new home construction in Meadowmont is among the most desirable in town.    The new school in Meadowmont, Rashkis Elementary School, is among the best in the country.    Check my website for more information on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School District.

As a Chapel Hill Real Estate agent, I keep close watch on new construction, as well as our more established subdivisions.  Â
