Holiday Events in Downtown Chapel Hill

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

There are some great events coming up in Chapel Hill.

Lots of holiday cheer — and of course, great basketball.  Starting tonight at the Smith Center the Tar Heels will take on Ohio State as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.   This Saturday the Kentucky Wildcats come to town for a 12noon game.

Take a look at the Carolina Inn’s web page if you are looking for a great place to visit with Santa.  The Inn’s “Twelve Days of Christmas are a great way for you and your family to celebrate the season.  We always make plans to have breakfast with Santa — and he seems to come through every year for my sons!

On Saturday, December 9th it’s time for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade.  Start time is 10am and you can line up on Franklin Street to see the floats, bands and community groups march.  The Jaycees sponsor the parade and will be collecting for Toys for Tots - so bring an unwrapped toy with you to donate.

As a Chapel Hill realtor, it’s important for me to know everything about our community.  The schools, community — these all add to the intangibles that make Chapel Hill, “the southern part of heaven.”

Call Reg Morgan to talk about your place in our competitive real estate market.

Chapel Hill Realtor News: Southern Village

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Southern Village in Chapel Hill always has some great events planned and this holiday season is no exception. As a Chapel Hill realtor, I love to show my clients around our town at this time of year - the grass stays green till Christmas in North Carolina!

The Southern Village 5K and Family Fun Run, will take place on Sunday, December 10th at 2pm. Benefiting Habitat for Humanity, there will also be a raffle for an extraordinary children’s playhouse. Take a look at it on the Village Green in Southern Village, it will be there from November 19 until December 10. You can buy raffle tickets at Bloom, Market Street Books, Marakesh and Pringles Fine Crafts.

There are also great things going on at Weaver Street Market in Southern Village as the expansion work that has been underway the past few weeks is really starting to show benefits. They’ve finished the first stage resulting in more room for the dairy products and the freezer. Look for increased space for a cheese, wine and beer section. The center island will be split into a hot bar and sandwich area at the back, and a bakery and coffeebar through the center of the store.

Don’t forget that the market is taking Thanksgiving orders till Monday, November 20th!

On Saturday, December 2nd there will be some fun holiday kick-off events. Starting at 2pm, Loren Miller, Minister of Worship Arts at Christ Church will join friends and neighbors for a special holiday caroling event. Also that day, there will be a special holiday ornament making party with The Scrap Exchange at Weaver Street. Kids can make special ornaments out of recycled materials and then at 3pm they can hang them on the Christmas tree that will be set up on the green.

At 3:30pm the tree will be lit, and more singing of traditional Christmas carols with Rebecca Dyck who runs the local Kindermusik class. Our youngest son loves her classes!

Enjoy Southern Village in Chapel Hill, it is a unique neighborhood with something for every part of the real estate market. Town homes, apartments and condos and luxury homes are all available at a number of price points. This walkable, friendly neighborhood is a must see for those thinking of relocating to Chapel Hill.

Chapel Hill Realtor: Market Update

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

If you are thinking of buying or selling your Chapel Hill home, now is a good time to start talking to a realtor with experience and knowledge about our competitive local market.  Reg Morgan has over 20 years of experience in real estate sales - and it is never too early to start the conversation.

Fall is a great time to look at getting your house ready for a Spring sale.  I can come out and look around, make recommendations on any small repairs and staging we might want to do now.    I’ll do a competitive market analysis (CMA).   In this document, we’ll be looking at what your neighborhood and similar locations are selling for.   We’ll determine together what the top price will be for your property.   I’ll show you our marketing plan, utilizing my own experience and the power of Prudential Carolinas real estate.

But don’t forget - if you can consider a sale now, inventories are low.  A home that is priced well and professionally marketed can be sold in days.

And for the Chapel Hill home buyer, I can set up an automatic email system that will send you new listings and price adjustments on homes in our areas that fit your parameters of size, price, Chapel Hill schools, etc.  A great way to begin to learn about local home sales.

Call me to discuss the Chapel Hill real estate market - let’s start our conversation!

Monet Exhibit in Raleigh

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

More exciting arts news in the Triangle.  The North Carolina Museum of Art is hosting the Monet in Normandy exhibit this Fall.   The exhibit kicked off with a beautiful gala evening on Saturday, October 14.  Over 900 guests viewed the exhibit and were served a wonderful meal in the gala tent on the grounds of the Museum.   As usual, flowers by Steve Taras of Watered Garden were one of the highlights of the event.

The Monet exhibit will be here through January 14, 2007.  We are members of of the Museum and plan to visit the exhibit as much as possible.  You can join too and support the great programs and exhibits of the Museum.  Join online or book tickets at their website, which makes it easy to plan your visit.

This Saturday, November 11th at 11:30am, the Museum will host a tour of it’s French Collection — the permanent collection of French paintings and sculpture.  A great complement to the Monet exhibition.   Don’t forget to have lunch or dinner in the Blue Ridge Restaurant!

Raleigh is a great place to live - if you are thinking of relocating to the Triangle, we should take a look at some of the great subdivisions in North Raleigh.  Brier Creek, Stonemoor and Bedford are some of my current favorites.
